This is a brief rundown of some of the key dates in the life of TRASH. Many of these dates have video content so please check out the Video section. The Archive holds a much fuller history.

1994: JAM formed first Trash Band as part of the Tweed Festival project organised by Scottish Borders Enterprise. Steve King, viola player with SCO ran it for us. Final performance was held in Peebles. Big success.

1995: In partnership with Youth Scotland ran a residential at the Barnabas Centre. Newcastleton. Performances were held in the village and in Hawick, again with Steve directing. Small group of older teenagers with some adult support held some practices. They played at YS’s Grizzly Challenge event in Aberdeen in November.

1996: First workshops. In partnershop with Youth Scotland ran projects on Lewis, Shetland and at Craigmillar, Edinburgh. At the end of the year built up a TRASH band of 95 primary, teenage and young adults to play in Melrose for Children in Need. Filmed by BBC
