TRASH have had the use of Artbeat Studios for one day a week and have been working with mixed adult groups including some with learning, or other, disabilities. From October 2011, with a grant from “Awards for All”, TRASH created the “Tapestry” project, to create a gallery of sound and vision celebrating Hawick – including the song “A day out of Hawick is a day wasted” and, thanks to materials from Scrapstore, and the inventive artistic genius of a participant, Tony, a giant and very colourful millwheel. Running a music and visual project in parallel has been a challenge, which artists and musicians, Irene, Finlay and Katie, rose to with help from volunteers, James, Bill and Pat. The finished result of all the hard, creative work was on show at Artbeat Studios, Hawick for a month, with an open day on the 8th of August. The highlight was the unique millwheel and townscape with “water” words flowing over the wheel and into the town, but there was plenty more to see and hear
